ADC Resolution and LSB Calculator

Calculate the ideal unipolar ADC step size and an approximate code for a particular input voltage.

Enter the values above and select Calculate result.

Formula

LSB width = Vref / 2ᴺ

Worked example

For 12 bits and 3.3 V reference, 3.3 / 4096 ≈ 0.806 mV per LSB. A 1.65 V input corresponds to approximately mid-scale.

Engineering notes

Check the actual ADC transfer function, coding mode and reference specification. This is not an ENOB, noise or INL calculation.

Always compare calculated values with the actual component datasheet, tolerance stack-up, operating temperature and circuit conditions before applying them to hardware.
